Common Color Codes

In many regions, the colors follow international safety standards:

ColorUtility Type
YellowGas, Oil, Steam, or Gaseous Materials
RedElectric Power Lines, Cables, and Conduits
OrangeCommunication, Alarm, Signal, or Fiber Optic
BluePotable (Drinking) Water
GreenSewers and Drain Lines

4. Installation Method

The tape is typically installed using a "Layered" approach:

  1. The utility cable or pipe is laid at the bottom of the trench.

  2. A layer of "clean" fill or sand is placed over the cable.

  3. The Cable Tile Tape is laid on top of that fill.

  4. The rest of the trench is backfilled to the surface.

Why the gap? This ensures that if an excavator pulls up the tape, there is still a "buffer zone" of soil before the bucket strikes the actual power or gas line.

Product Features
  • High melting point: The Vicat softening temperature of PP board is 150℃, and the surface stiffness and scratch resistance are good.
  • High impact strength: Copolymer PP material has high impact strength, and the strength increases with the increase of ethylene content.
  • Excellent resistance to moisture absorption, acid and alkali corrosion, and dissolution: PP sheets are not resistant to aromatic hydrocarbons and chlorinated hydrocarbon solvents, but are not as resistant to oxidation as PE at high temperatures.

Key Features

  • High Durability: Made from heavy-gauge polymers (usually Polyethylene) to ensure it doesn’t rot or degrade in the soil over decades.

  • High Visibility: Features bright, bold colors and scratch-resistant printing.

  • Impact Resistance: Unlike thin warning tape, "Tile" tape is thicker and tougher, offering a slight physical resistance to hand tools.

  • Chemical Resistance: It is designed to withstand acids, alkalis, and other soil chemicals.

Standard sizes & package

Cable Tile Tape (often referred to as Cable Protection Tape or Underground Warning Tape) is a heavy-duty plastic marker used primarily in construction and utility industries. Its main job is to provide a "visual stop" and a physical barrier for excavators to prevent accidental damage to buried utilities.

Purpose and Function

When workers are digging—whether with shovels or heavy machinery—they often cannot see what is beneath the surface.

  • Early Warning: The tape is buried at a specific depth above the actual cable or pipe. When a worker hits the tape, they know to stop immediately before hitting the more sensitive infrastructure below.

  • Identification: The tape is usually color-coded and printed with warning text (e.g., "CAUTION: ELECTRIC CABLE BELOW") to tell workers exactly what they have encountered.
